Mark Wahlberg gives a powerful performance that is both emotionally moving and inspiring. One that many people will relate to who would never step foot in a church. That journey is filled with humor, heartbreak and a non-typical approach to finding a faith and relationship with God. He overcame his circumstances and a near-death accident to find his faith/purpose in life, before finding out he had a terminal disease. This is a realistic look at a man who came from a verbally abusive background with little guidance or approval from an alcoholic/atheist father. Yes, it has lots of language (nothing your older/mature teen hasn't heard at school, etc.) but it helps to show the redemption and transformation of what the character overcame. It's definitely not a 'kid-friendly' movie but it's not supposed to be. I liked "FATHER STU" and encourage mature teens to adults to see this inspiring movie.
